Scholar Report Abstract: In 2010 Japanese Ministry of Economy and other ministries selected Yokohama City, Toyota City, Kyoto and Kitakyushu four cities as pilotsto validate the intelligent city related technology structure and business models for a period of five years,. Toyota City mainly focused on “Low-Carbon Transport Systems Construction” piloting and demonstration projects by introducing a new generation of mobile facilities, improving the public transport infrastructure, and providing a novel form of transportation supporting the use of measures to achieve the goal of “the world’s first people and vehicles harmonious city”. Through “visualization”, “operational support”, “control” and other functions around the terminal, the living area would easily implement the overall optimization of low-carbon action. This seminar will introduce the combination instances of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Urban Planning to implement intelligent city based on the achievement in Toyota City, and demonstrate some examples of the world-recognized model for urban transportation in Tokyo, to explore an effective way for achieving intelligent transportation in Chinese cities together with Chinese researchers and audience.
