Profile of Dr. Wang Zhongren

Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. He is the Acting Chief of Office of Pavement Planning and Programming, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)Caltrans Headquarters, Division of Maintenance. He has beenin charge of the ramp control, traffic monitoring, variable information board management and traffic radio management of all roads in California, and has presided over a number of standard writing. Now he is responsible for pavement management system development and execution for the next 10 years in California, and supervises the budget ($1 billion a year) implementation of pavement maintenance and improvement. He is also a part-time professor of California State University - Sacramento and University of the Pacific.His areas of expertise include the pavement management, traffic operations and management, and intelligent management systems. He is aregistered Civil Engineer and Traffic Engineer in the State of California, Dr. Wang has more than 20 years of experiences in project development and management, program administration, as well as academic teaching and research. Dr. Wang serves on four standing Committees of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), including Geometric Design, Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics, Pavement Management, and International Cooperation. He also serves as a panelist for multiple National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) research projects. Dr. Wang published 30 journal papers and book chapters in various journals and proceedings. He is the founding member and associate editor of the International Journal on Transportation Science and Technology
