On August 23, 2015, Prof. Hongjun Zhang from California university, USA, came to our base and conducted academic exchanges. The visit was sponsored by the 111 project, “introducing talents for discipline innovation of vehicle-road information perception and intelligent transportation systems”.

During the visit, Prof.Zhang communicated with many related teachers from our base and Automobile school, International Cooperation Department, Development Research Center and other units. He visited the road traffic intelligent detection and equipment engineering technology research center of Shaanxi. An academic report titled "Joint traffic routing and signal control in a connected vehicle environment" was made by Professor Zhangin. The academic report was presided over by Huansheng Song, the dean of information institute. About 40 relevant teachers and students attended the lecture.

Prof. Hong-jun Zhang is a tenured professor of the university of California at Davis, a doctoral supervisor, a distinguished expert of “Thousand Person Plan” overseas high level talents innovation plan for the CPC Central Committee, and a distinguished expert of “ the Cheung Kong Scholars Program” for national education ministry. He also is a deputy editor of transportation authority magazine “Transportation Research Part B”, editor of international Journal “Network and Spatial Economics”, member of “traffic flow theory and the characteristics of the committee” for Transportation Research board (TRB), the national Research council. In 2000, he was awarded as the “American Outstanding Youth” by the United States Natural Science Foundation. A number of US national natural science fund projects and some significant scientific research projects of the national department of transportation and the California department of transportation have been directed and completed by Prof. Zhang. He mainly engaged in the transportation system operation and control, transportation science, intelligent transportation systems and other related areas of research.
