On May 16, 2016, Professor Wang Song from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Carolina, visited our base. Professor Zhao Xiangmo met the guest, and headsof the school of information engineering of Chang'an University participated in the meeting.
Professor Zhaomade welcome speech toProfessor Wang Song, and briefly introduced the basic information of Chang'an University in aspects of the historical evolution, school scale, characteristics of academic subjects, personnel training and so on. Professor Zhao also introduced the policy of introducing high level talents from overseas.
During the visit, Professor Wang Song gave anacademic report on human behavior detection and recognition based on multiple wearable-camera videos. The lecture was hosted by Professor Song Huansheng. In the report, professor Wangintroduced how to track and recognize human behavior with multiple wearable-camera videos. The report described the problem of multiple target tracking in low space time consistency, using time synchronization and 3D human body pose estimation of multiple wearable cameras to help 2D human behavior recognition. It could be used in video surveillance and target analysis.
Professor Wang Song had a conversation with teachers and students in our base. After the report, Professor Wang song visited the Shaanxi Province road traffic intelligent detection and equipment engineering technology research center, and showed a strong interest in the progress of our scientific research in intelligent vehicle coordination system, traffic video processing, traffic parameters and traffic incidents detection, etc.
Professor Wang Song received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Tsinghua University in 1994 and 1998, and received hisPh.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in 2002. Since then, He joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Carolina, where he is currently working as a professor. His research is focused on image processing, computer vision and machine learning. He has been working in a laboratory which has undertaken many research projects for U.S. National Natural Science Foundation, the air force scientific research bureau, and the advanced defense research program. Professor Wang Song is the chairman of PAMI Technical Committee of the IEEE Computer Society, associate editor of Pattern Recognition Letters, guest editor of Computer Vision and Image Understanding, and member of IEEE and IEEE Computer Society.
