Teachers from Our Base had an Academic Exchange in the U.S.

Sponsored by the 111 project on information of vehicle-infrastructure sensing and ITS , teachers Duan Zongtao, An Yisheng, Hui Fei, Shi Xin, Xu Zhigang(Exchange Scholar in US) and Chang Zhiguo(Exchange Scholar in US) participated the 94th TRB Conference held from Jan.10 to Jan.15 in the Convention Center in Washington D.C, the capital of the U.S.A. The conference attracted 12,000 scholars as well as professors in the field of traffic from all parts of the world.

During the conference, professors from our university had discussions with professors Hani Mahmassani from Northwest University, U.S and Michael H.Zhang from University of California upon topics such as internet of vehicles, self-monitored smart driving, traffic stream and control. They also had photographs taken together.

In response to the invitation from Professor Wang Yinhai in University of Washington, U.S, within the 4 days from Jan.16 to 19, five professors from our university visited the lab of STARLAB in the University of Washington. During the visit, Vice Chief Professor Duan Zongtao introduced the conditions of our school to all teachers and students in STARLAB and shared feelings and insights from participation of this year's TRB Annual. In addition, Vice Chief Professor Duan Zongtao made academic reports “Traffic Information Cooperation Service”, professors An Yisheng, Hui Fei, Doctor Shi Xin, Vice professor Xu Zhigang made academic reports “Urban Traffic Light Control System based on Timed Colored Petri Nets”, “Wireless Sensor Networks for Hazardous Materials Transportation Monitoring: Background and Framework”, “Wireless Sensor Networks for Hazardous Materials Transportation Monitoring: Key Techs and Its Implementation” and “An Introduction of Chang’an University CVIS Test Bed”, respectively. Both sides expressed intentions of deepening cooperation and expanding research fields.

The Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of USA is held every January. Up to now, TRB Annuals had been successfully held for 94 times and has become the best-known academic conference in the studies of traffics with the most numerous participants from most countries. During the recent years, more than 4,000 papers concerning highway, rail, water and air traffic on policies, controls, governmental management and operation as well as the recent development in the academic field are received by the conference. The collection of papers (CD) issued by the conference have become important material reflecting the development in traffic and transport, while the conference magazine Transportation Research Record (TRR) have become a choice of source by SCI and EI.
